A VERY Happy Day for NE Ohioans!

If you aren't from this area or didn't truly follow the whole Lebron James story last year, you really won't understand, but this is truly a happy day for the rest of us!  A lot of people around this country became instant Dallas Maverick fans as soon as they entered into the championship series with the Miami Heat, and I was certainly one of them!  And the Mavs actually won the championship last night and it made me such a happy girl!!

If you don't know much other than the fact the Lebron James decided to leave his home state to go play with 2 other top players in Miami to win as many championships as he can, then you probably wonder why Cleveland fans are so bitter.  What you may not know is that he made this decision in such a way that screwed the Cavs and Cleveland.  Instead of ending the previous season and letting Cleveland (who treated him like royalty) know that he was going to be moving on, he waited until close to the end of the trading deadline to make his hour-long, breaking news "Decision" and blind-sided Cleveland at a time when all of the good free agents had already signed with other teams so that Cleveland had no way of getting any decent players to replace "The King".  That, combined with promising Cleveland that he would bring us a championship and he wouldn't leave until he did (see 1st video), has made him one of the most hated people around this area - and in many other parts of the country.  How many endorsements have you seen him in in the last year?  All this from an Akron boy who would wear Yankee gear to Indians games and Dallas gear to Browns games.



I think columnist Jennifer Floyd Engel said it best: "On its very best day, the game is about a guy like Dirk refusing to quit, to give into the doubt, to fail. And his guys, like (Mavs' coach Rick) Carlisle and (teammate Jason) Terry, backing him up. And not about an egomaniacal athlete named LeBron."

NBA.com quoted Nathan Obral saying, "Just be careful when shipping the Miami Heat champs T-shirts to the poor in Guatemala, they could be a choking hazard." HAHAHA!!

Not even Michael Jordan thinks much of "The King"...
